Partner Spotlight: Larimer County Workforce Center's Young Entrepreneur Tournament!

September 18, 2017

It’s crazy to think that so many of the things we use on a daily basis came from a simple idea. From brain, to paper, to making it a reality, an idea has the power to truly change the world. But how did an idea go from something swirling in someone’s head to something tangible? It really comes down to one word: nurturing.

A world changing idea has to be nurtured, from both the ideator and the world around them. That’s why programs like the Young Entrepreneur Tournament (YET) are so important. These programs help nurture and support entrepreneurial ideas and spirits that teens have, encouraging them to blossom into real, tangible businesses and products that have the potential to change our world for the better.

One student, Nathan, shared his experience in YET:

“At YET, I was taught multiple things about being an entrepreneur. This class was very educational, and I was definitely glad I decided to take it. Just some examples of things that I have earned are financials (investing), getting things trademarked/patented, and how to own a business in general. If it wasn't for this program, I wouldn't have started up my own business, and never gotten interested in ever creating or starting one. YET doesn't just stop at educating us, they have wonderful employees who will go beyond the five hour Saturday classes and will email, text, or call us back if we have any questions. This is definitely one of the main reasons I enjoyed coming to this program as much as I did (not to mention the wonderful snacks and pizza that they abundantly had each class)! This is definitely a program that I would recommend to kids and would want to come to again!”

At OtterCares, we’re proud to support programs like YET that have an impact on students like Nathan, helping to inspire and equip the next generation of entrepreneurs and philanthropists who will no doubt change the world! We can’t wait to see where Nathan’s ideas and passions will take him.
