OtterCares Ambassador Spotlight: Meet Jorge!

August 31, 2017

Department: Customer Service

Why did you become an OtterCares Ambassador:

I became an Ambassador because I wanted to give back. This company has such incredible opportunities for growth and I am so happy to be a part of a place looking to make a difference. I ran out of volunteer hours in the first two months of 2016, I needed more and was looking for a place where I could help influence others and continually contribute to our cause.

Who or what has influenced your volunteer work (why do you volunteer?):

I volunteer at the Murphy Center for Hope and am always doing extra charity fundraisers or helping by utilizing my event planning history with my ability to speak Spanish for translations. I started volunteering at my local library when I was 14 and have always wanted to give time since this is our most valuable asset.

Describe a volunteer activity you have been involved in that relates to the OtterCares purpose statement

I have been involved in event planning, from Susan G Komen foundation to the Murphy Center for Hope and Homeless Gear in Fort Collins. I was able to bring donors together and create a place where they were able to give as much as possible to help our causes.

Describe your favorite volunteer activity (either one time or ongoing):

My favorite activity is Junior Achievement, this really gives us a chance to interact with kids who are trying to learn about business and develop skills that will change their future.

Why do you think the OtterCares purpose is important?:

Our mission is important because there are so many organizations who utilize their company to make a change. With our willingness to influence innovation and start a movement toward developing these skills we are at a place where this can happen easily and meets halfway between our company purpose and our willingness to give back.
