OtterCares Ambassador Spotlight: Steve L.

November 02, 2015

New to Otter Products about a year ago, Steve decided to dive right in as an OtterCares Ambassador. As part of our Procurement department, he’s been a great ally to get coworkers involved in the community, and he helped forge a brand new partnership with BASE Camp. Read more below about Steve:

photoWhy did you become an OtterCares Ambassador? As a newer employee, I thought it would be a great way to get full exposure to OtterCares and the various organizations that are supported as well as allowing me to have more interaction with Otter Products departments and employees that I might not otherwise get the chance to work with.

Who or what has influenced your volunteer work? Most of my volunteer activity prior to joining Otter was at my daughters’ schools so I really appreciate the exposure to all of the other volunteer activities I’ve been exposed to here.  It’s great to get a different perspective on the world and each different volunteer activity I participate in often does that for me.

Describe a volunteer activity you have been involved in that relates to the OtterCares mission:  I worked with BASE Camp to coordinate volunteers to assist with various educational activities during their Spring Break session.  Each day was unique with a variety of planned activities to keep the kids entertained while at the same time encouraging them to problem solve and use their creativity.

What is your favorite volunteer activity: It’s hard to pick just one, my favorite is often the event I did last.  Operation Christmas Child and Habitat for Humanity are two that I have enjoyed and plan on doing again.

Why do you think the OtterCares purpose is important? I think OtterCares and the paid volunteer time provided by Otter Products is fantastic because it builds and reinforces the habit of volunteering.  The OtterCares mission to focus on the entrepreneurial and philanthropic spirit of local youth is a great long-term investment that will generate great returns for the future of our community.
