Currently in her second year as an OtterCares Ambassador, Rebekah works as a Data Control Coordinator in the Sales and Operations Planning department. She brings her passion for the OtterCares Foundation to work and into the community every day through her own personal volunteerism and by inspiring others to get involved as well. Read below for more info on her volunteer inspiration and activities!
Why did you become an OtterCares Ambassador? I wanted to help others experience the rewards of volunteerism and giving back, by discovering their “Cause”.
Who or what has influenced your volunteer work? As a child I learned the importance of “paying it forward” and enjoyed the satisfaction these experiences gave me; helping others gave me a feeling of purpose like nothing else did, or has. As an adult this passion has been solidified in many ways, including directly experiencing the receiving end of volunteerism, and the huge impact it makes in lives and communities.
Describe your favorite volunteer activity: I have tutored struggling students in multiple grades for 10 years. For me, this activity is one of the most rewarding areas of volunteerism because I believe adults have such a meaningful and impactful influence on a child’s spirit and confidence. Working with children is unique in that they are full of limitless creativity and enthusiasm.
Why do you think the OtterCares purpose is important? Because it champions the power each individual has on our communities and neighbors, and creates an environment that perpetuates a huge ripple effect in countless lives, on a daily basis.
