Why did you become an OtterCares Ambassador: To see how I can support colleagues at unlocking the magic of volunteering.
Who or what has influenced your volunteer work (why do you volunteer?): I am a firm believer in paying it forward and that it does take a village to create long lasting positive change in the world.
Describe a volunteer activity you have been involved in that relates to the OtterCares purpose statement:I support the Crossbow Miles movement that empowers women in rural India to speak up, educate themselves on digital and financial literacy, and uncover new opportunities.
Describe your favorite volunteer activity (either one time or ongoing): I volunteered for a week in Nicaragua after studying at university and was a Spanish translator for Canadian firefighters that were teaching Nicaraguan volunteer firefighters how to use their equipment. It was amazing to work with people that were volunteering to risk their lives to be there for their community in a completely different part of the world.
Why do you think the OtterCares purpose is important?: I think it builds awareness that there are a lot of different opportunities and paths we can take in life. We all don’t have to follow our parents’ footsteps and our options are endless if you focus on learning and following through on opportunities.
