Name: Courtney A.
Department: Operations
Why did you become an OtterCares Ambassador:
I love serving my community and connecting with other like-minded individuals. Otter has such a great mission that I want to support our VTO opportunities and help nonprofits in our community earn those $250 grants!
Who or what has influenced your volunteer work (why do you volunteer?):
I’ve always been called to this work. My family is very giving which lead me to study leadership and philanthropy and work in the nonprofit sector the past seven years. Giving back makes me feel whole.
Describe a volunteer activity you have been involved in that relates to the OtterCares purpose statement:
I currently work with a group of young women who have trained to be digital interviewers. They are representing a new era of peer-to-peer engagement and helping to shape this dynamic new program. An integrated piece of this is deepening their understanding of nonprofits and how they are sustained financially.
Describe your favorite volunteer activity (either one time or ongoing):
I am a proud member of the women’s organization, Junior League of Fort Collins. Part of our mission is to elevate women in their careers and life through our Career Closet, a cost-free clothing boutique where women in need come in and work with a stylist to establish a professional wardrobe and a mega self-esteem boost. I serve as the committee chair and stylist and it my favorite thing by far.
Why do you think the OtterCares purpose is important?
I believe we should always have our eyes on tomorrow and never underestimate the minds and hearts of young people. They can absolutely move mountains!
