OtterCares Ambassador Spotlight – Meet Amy P!

April 12, 2019

Name:  Amy

Department:  Salazar Office Manager

Why did you become an OtterCares Ambassador? Teaching and children are my passion. Watching them learn and grow touches my heart.  So becoming an Ambassador allows me to help others get the opportunity to volunteer.

Who or what has influenced your volunteer work (why do you volunteer?): Some of the most influential people in my life were volunteers that took the time to know me. Overall, just knowing that I can make a difference in at least one person’s life is one of the best things.  I began volunteering with my church’s youth group back in 1998 . That has taught me so much about who I am and the importance that any small gesture can have on another person.

Describe your favorite volunteer activity (either one time or ongoing): My favorite is Graceful Oaks Youth Ranch. They offer Hope to Children, Strengthen Families, Reach the Community and connect children with horses. We do things from working with the teens, maintenance on the ranch, and so much more to make it a successful place to reach children that need it.  This year they will also be starting a program for battered woman. It is great to help a place that reaches people at their hardest times to show them there is something better out there for them.

Why do you think the OtterCares purpose is important?  Children are our future. Helping them and guiding them to always know nothing is  impossible is the best gift we can give them.
