A member of our Global Engineering and Technology Development department, Kingsley is an enthusiastic Ambassador and was one of the key volunteers who drove our participation in this year’s JA Business Week. Read more below about how and why Kingsley volunteers!
Why did you become an OtterCares Ambassador: To give back a small portion of what I have been given (to whom much has been given much is expected).
Who or what has influenced your volunteer work?: I volunteer because from an early age I was encouraged to do so and quickly found that I learned far more from the experience than most of the people I was helping. It’s a hard feeling to describe but once you’ve experienced it you want to do it again. Even though sometimes it can feel like work at the time, in hind sight I have always reflected on it as time well spent. I have never regretted helping someone in need and I’ve been doing it for over 40 years now. I try to practice random acts of kindness and “pay it forward”. It is very gratifying when you get to see a glimpse of the ripple effect that your example has had on another. You do not get to see that very often but the older I get the more I see and more people who inspire me to continue to give.
Describe your favorite volunteer activity: It’s hard to pick just one. JA Business Week was great and I really enjoy helping with Habitat for Humanity (I love to build and fix stuff with other willing hearts). Retirement is coming and I’ve warned my wife I won’t stop working because I don’t have to anymore, I’ll just be working for a higher purpose. I look forward to having the time to commit to volunteer a significant amount of time to worthy causes.
Why do you think the OtterCares purpose is important?: Because inspiring a single mind can create a ripple effect that reaches far beyond the influence of a single individual.
