As a third year OtterCares Amabssador, Greg has been a longtime supporter of volunteerism at Otter Products. His collaborative focus and willingness to engage others is a great asset to the team, and his efforts have encouraged many fellow Otters get involved in the community. Read more below about Greg’s volunteerism:
Why did you become an OtterCares Ambassador? I became an OtterCares Ambassador because it gave me the opportunity to encourage other Otters to volunteer. I had a perception that it was difficult to volunteer prior to working at Otter Products due to a lack of time and resources. Otter showed that it is possible and much easier than you would think to give back to the community. I figured there were more people that thought the same way that I did and that I could help change that view by helping them find opportunities to volunteer.
Who or what has influenced your volunteer work? Seeing the results from volunteering is what really keeps me coming back. It’s amazing to see how big of an impact an individual or group of people can make within their community when they volunteer.
Describe a volunteer activity you have been involved in that relates to the OtterCares mission: One activity that I really enjoy is reviewing applications for Entrepreneurial Scholarships that OtterCares awards to high school students that are getting ready to go to College or a Vocational School. It’s really great to see some of the ideas that our future philanthropists and entrepreneurs have and to have OtterCares help support them in reaching their goals through these grants.
Describe your favorite volunteer activity: One of my favorite volunteer opportunities is the annual Sustainable Living Fair in Fort Collins, CO. I really enjoy this event because I connect with its purpose of helping to educate our communities on how to make healthy and sustainable choices. They have great workshops, educational activities for kids, and good food and music for everyone to enjoy.
Why do you think the OtterCares purpose is important? It’s amazing to think back over the last 20 years and look at all the innovations that have changed the world. The OtterCares mission supports and encourages entrepreneurial spirit in youth which will allow for more innovation in the future while also showing them the value in philanthropy.
