Entrepreneurial drive is the backbone of OtterBox, and in 2007, Nancy and Curt Richardson created the Entrepreneurial Scholarship to encourage the entrepreneurial spirit in local students. In 2014, graduating seniors from 7 different Poudre School District high schools submitted applications. A committee of OtterBox, Blue Ocean Enterprises, and OtterCares employees selected 3 young entrepreneurs to receive the Entrepreneurial Scholarship to help them pursue their dreams.
These 3 exceptional and entrepreneurial students are very active in their schools and in the community. They serve in leadership positions in various organizations and athletic teams and give back to our community by volunteering with a variety of nonprofit and faith organizations. These students are also high achievers in the classroom, receiving high GPA rankings, taking AP classes, and obtaining ACT scores well above the state average.
Gioia embodies entrepreneurial values by being a risk-taker, a self-starter, having a persevering attitude, and passionately pursuing her dreams. She will be graduating from PSD Global Academy with plans to study Fashion Design and Merchandising at Colorado State University in the fall.
Caitlin has exhibited her entrepreneurial drive by overcoming substantial personal hurdles and turning those circumstances into an opportunity by lobbying and working with the City of Fort Collins and other officials to install a pedestrian overpass by her school, Rocky Mountain High School. She is planning to study Psychology at Colorado State University next fall.
Ryan has started his own entrepreneurial venture by launching a computer repair and design website design business (ryanstechsolutions.com). After graduating from Fossil Ridge High School, he plans to study Computer Engineering at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs in the fall.
