High School Interview Day Fosters Leadership & Business Skills

September 23, 2014

What do you want to do with your life?

Senior Interviews at FRHS 2014Volunteers from the OtterBox sales team helped local students answer that question when they participated in Senior Interview Days at Fossil Ridge High School earlier this year. This great volunteer opportunity provides students with an important platform to develop their leadership and business skills through a one-on-one interview with a member of the local business community. Many students put together a portfolio of their experiences throughout high school which is shared during the interview, giving the students a chance to reflect on their experiences over the last four years as they get ready to take their next steps. The school notes that these interviews “bring relevance to the students’ education, enlighten our community, and provide a forum for communication and improvement in our school.”

This interview process also provides the ever important step of feedback. Each business volunteer spends time with the student following the formal interview to give them feedback on their interviewing skills as well as general comments and suggestions. What really makes this event unique and beneficial is the opportunity for students to meet and network with members of the business community who can help them. And in fact, our employees who volunteered for this project got just as much out of it as the students.  OtterBox employee Brittany said, “I loved talking with the students and hearing about their accomplishments and aspirations for the future. Their passion and zest for what their future holds was inspiring, they helped me more than I may have helped them.”

This is the second year OtterBox employees have participated in this event and we plan to continue supporting it for years to come. We believe that one young and inspired mind can change the world and this project is truly helping to advance that idea.
