The start of a new school year is always exciting. New classes, new friends and new experiences are just a few of the things students look forward to as the school year begins. For some students and their families, the excitement of starting school can be overshadowed by anxiety of wondering how they will be able to afford school supplies. We want students and their families to feel confident about starting the new school year, so that they can achieve and succeed all year long! That is why we host Pack2School, our annual school supplies event which provides school supplies to deserving students in the Poudre School District in Fort Collins, Colo.
For the past five years, we’ve had the privilege of helping families alleviate the stress of purchasing school supplies while providing fun and interactive activities where students can learn about philanthropy and entrepreneurship. From goal setting activities to invention labs, students interact with Otter Products and Blue Ocean employees in a safe and fun environment.
On August 12, over 225 Otter Products and Blue Ocean Enterprises employees volunteered more than 730 hours to help make Pack2School an incredible success! Students were paired with a person shopper where they were able to “shop” for their school supplies, picking out their backpacks, folders and other supplies. When the students were done shopping, they learned more about extracurricular activities available to them that teach about innovation, philanthropy and entrepreneurship. At the end of the day, over 2,000 students were provided more than 49,000 pieces of school supplies! And the smiles from students and their parents were immeasurable.
This event wouldn’t be possible without the hard work, passion and enthusiasm of Otter Products and Blue Ocean Enterprises employees. For all they did to make this event a success, THANK YOU!
