Our Impact: Mission Spotlight
From Foster Care to Food Trucks: GeQwan’s Culinary Dream
GeQwan aged out of foster care with a passion for cooking. An Impact Grant to America's Kids Belong provided the seed money to help him pursue his dream of pop-up restaurants and food trucks.
In 2017, OtterCares awarded a grant to America’s Kids Belong (then Adopt America’s Kids) for their Dream Makers program — designed to help young people aging out of the foster care system pursue their entrepreneurial dreams.
One of those young people is GeQwan, who wants to be a chef. Our investment in the Dream Makers program was an investment in GeQwan himself — giving him the seed money and support to develop his culinary skills and pursue his own line of pop-up restaurants and food trucks.
When you invest in a young person’s dream, you don’t just change one life — you show them what’s possible.
