Our Impact: Mission Spotlight
Ending Light Poverty, One Lantern at a Time
One billion people live without electric light. In this after-school program, students design, build, and deliver solar lanterns — and learn that they can solve complex global problems.
More than one billion people around the world live without access to electric light. Engineering Brightness asks students to do something about it.
In this after-school program, students combine their time, talent, and passions to design and build the most efficient solar lanterns they can — then send them to developing countries, orphanages, and communities without reliable electricity. Along the way, they learn that complex global problems aren’t too big for young people to tackle.
It’s exactly the kind of program OtterCares loves to champion: one that proves kids can change the world, one lantern at a time.
