Otter Products employees putting the finishing touches on their Monsters during the Monster Build-a-Thon
One warm and sunny day in June, the Otter Products offices in Northern Colorado were overrun by Monsters! These Monsters came in all shapes, colors and sizes, each with its own silly and unique personality. And all of these Monsters share a special story and an important purpose.
OtterCares and employee volunteers from Otter Products spent two days working with A Monster to Love to build silly and furry Monsters. From sewing to stuffing, 81 volunteers worked alongside Ben and Sam, founders of A Monster to Love, to build 160 unique Monsters. These Monsters will then find a very special home with kids who really do need a Monster to Love.

A Monster to Love was founded in 2012 by two young entrepreneurs, Ben and Sam, both 13, who saw a need to help kids who were coming to the United States with little, if anything, to call their own. The twin boys had been making stuffed Monsters for a few years prior to establishing A Monster to Love, with Ben providing the designs and Sam, along with their dad Ray, doing the sewing and stuffing. After learning about the hardships that many refugee children coming to the United States were facing, Ben and Sam decided to take action. Working with their dad, they formed A Monster to Love and began creating these unique and fun Monsters to sell. With every Monster sold, A Monster to Love gives away a Monster to a child in need. Since its founding, A Monster to Love has sold over 3,000 Monsters which has allowed them to donate more than 3,000 special Monsters to children in need.

What Ben and Sam have done is nothing short of incredible. Using entrepreneurial skills and a philanthropic purpose, the boys, who will be 8th graders this year, truly embody what OtterCares champions. Ben and Sam are proof that entrepreneurship and philanthropy are not limited by age and that with a little ingenuity and imagination, anyone can make a difference.
